Three SistersMountain is Canmores signature scenic feature. It was originally
named Three Nuns because the three peaks look like hooded nuns in prayer.
Artists renditions of these three peaks can be seen in signage all around
Canmore and in marketing materials of many Canmore attractions.
If you look closely at the bottom-center of the satellite picture below
you will see Three Sisters Mountain and the prominent shadows of two of
its three peaks.
Canmore
is a town of 11,000 people located on the Trans Canada Highway (Highway
#1) just 7 km (4 miles) from Banff National Park, just over a 1 hour drive
from Calgary International Airport.
Canmore
is centered in some of the best mountain skiing, hiking, climbing, biking,
rafting, golfing and sight seeing in the world. You can see three world
class golf courses in the satellite picture above. A fourth has just been
approved for completion in 2008.
