The Douglas Foundation uses Canadian-sourced wood that expands and contracts in different conditions. The dimensions of the foundation are slightly smaller than the mattress to accommodate changes in temperature and to allow the foundation to be removed from a bed frame during hotter seasons. If the foundation was designed to the exact same size specifications as the Douglas mattress, the foundation might get stuck in the bed frame.

Foundations purchased in the same order as a Douglas mattress can be returned at any time during the 120-night sleep trial. Foundations not associated with a Douglas mattress purchase can be returned within 14 days of receipt, as long as they are still in their original, unopened packaging. All foundation returns are subject to fees described in our Purchase Policy.
